About the company
The Korchakolskiy Mine conducts open-pit coal mining in the Novokuznetsk Municipal District of the Kemerovo Region.
128.6 million tonnes
The balance reserves of T and KC coal grades to be extracted and processed amount to 98 million tonnes.
Modern Production Methods
Thanks to the introduction of modern approaches to mining, the Korchakolskiy Open-Pit Mine has automated all production processes. The company uses a vehicle control system (location, navigation, accounting for downtime and fuel consumption), a video monitoring system (mining and industrial sites are equipped with cameras), automated loading and railway scales, systems that monitor and control access, as well as drilling and blasting operations, and programs for geological modeling and planning future work.
Logistics
The company owns loading infrastructure near the open-pit mining site with a monthly capacity of up to 200,000 tonnes. The company is rapidly developing thanks to a plan to improve logistics chains, which is being implemented to ensure stable sales and timely deliveries to customers. The Korchakolskiy Open-Pit Mine is investing in the development of its own railway infrastructure.
Company Fleet
The Korchakolskiy Open-Pit Mine has its own fleet of modern mining and haulage equipment, which increases the productivity and efficiency of the extraction process, while minimizing the need to involve external contractors. This bolsters the enterprise’s sustainability under the industry’s current economic conditions.
The company’s mining equipment includes excavators, Komatsu and Caterpillar tracked and wheeled bulldozers, as well as 32 BelAZ trucks with a lifting capacity from 55 to 130 tonnes.
For routine maintenance and repair of machinery, four maintenance bays, electrical and mechanized workshops, and warehouses for inventory items, including fuel, and lubricants, are located near the open-pit mining site to ensure that the extraction process is not interrupted. Record keeping for accounting and tracking inventory of spare parts and lubricants is fully automated.
Work Environment
Significant investment in human capital has enabled the Korchakolskiy Open-Pit Mine to create comfortable and dignified working and leisure conditions for its employees.
The company is implementing a program to improve living conditions at the production site. An administration and amenities block is located near the mining area that includes changing rooms, showers, a laundry, lounge areas, a canteen, additional dining areas, an infirmary, training classrooms, a dispatch center, and a shift assignment room. For all employees working outside the complex, decent living conditions have been provided in modular buildings. The Korchakolskiy Open-Pit Mine employs 600 people – residents of Osinniki, Kaltan, Novokuznetsk, Kiselevsk, and other localities in the Kuzbass Region.
Implementing the production expansion program will make it possible to create additional jobs for local residents.
